a) SUJ2 Steel Round Linear Shaft
Material:
Made from SUJ2 steel, a high-carbon chromium steel according to JIS G4805 (Japan), with typical chemical composition:
- Carbon (C): 0.95 – 1.10%
- Chromium (Cr): 1.30 – 1.60%
- Silicon (Si): 0.15 – 0.35%
- Manganese (Mn): ≤ 0.50%
- Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.025%
Advantages:

SUJ2 steel achieves a hardness of 58–62 HRC due to its high carbon content (0.95–1.10%) and chromium content (1.3–1.6%), which enhances hardenability. Mn and Si improve strength and structural stability.
The standard heat treatment process includes quenching at 830–860°C, low-temperature tempering at 150–200°C, and optional deep cryogenic treatment to reduce retained austenite.
